about

As one of the founding members of UK roots legends Talisman, Dennison Joseph and his band mates helped lay the foundation stones of a musical legacy that would put Bristol on the map in the late 70s and early 80s. Contributing to a sonic landscape that would not just take the underground by storm, but the mainstream 10 years later. Recording at some of Jamaica's finest studios including Channel 1 and Tuff Gong, Dennison honed his craft rubbing shoulders with some of reggae's greats (including the likes of Robbie Lynn, Earl Chinna Smith and even Alton Ellis). More active than ever and very much in his premier, Dennison's musical message is as important today as it was echoing from the frontline of St Paul's Grosvenor Road 40 years ago. His no compromise take on reggae music stirs in influences from other Caribbean musicial traditions centering his writing around the thundering heart beat of the binghi drum.

A crossover of personnel between Talisman and Bristol studio band The Co-Operators lead to a chance meeting between Dennison and producer, song writer and multi-instrumentalist Eeyun Purkins and this is where this next chapter starts. This is Dennison's first recorded collaboration outside of Talisman and part of a bigger project between the two in the works. 'Come Make We' is a heavyweight cut from The Co-Operators rhythm section, featuring a righteous vocal and horn arrangement by Dennison himself with the trombone played in fine style by the brilliant Jakob Zoob.

Available to order on a short run of 10"s cut by the excellent Pressure Mastering with version on the flip. This is message music! Get it while it's hot!!
